2000 model NBS silverado HU no sound

Got a buddy that just decided to get an aftermarket HU for is NBS silverado. The stock HU works just fine. We wired the aftermarket harness correctly according to the diagram(basically match the colors). When we hook up the HU(Pioneer) it has power and getting an antenna connection but we cant get sound. We have tried everything. He does not have bose. This is a base model truck with no console or power windows.

the same thing happened with my buddies 2000 tahoe, power to the head unit but wouldnt send a signal to any of the speakers

after a few hours of trouble shooting thru the night i said **** it and went on craigslist and found an amp and made him buy it and just ran a 4 channel amp thru the truck for the speakers

easiest way to remedy the problem and will also give you much better sound over hu power

Is it a new headunit? On some of them there is a option to turn off the amp in the headunit. Check through the settings for that. Also make sure "demo" mode is turned off. And you check all the sources? Radio, CD, etc...
