2000 Tahoe bad mileage

everything is stock as of now, tires are at 36 psi, 87 oct. just blew the air filter out with a compressor but i am going to put a CAI and a new fuel filter in

Time for a tune up? time for new O2 sensors? time for fluid change in the diffs? time to clean throttle body?...any of those can create sub par mpg's. Also blowing out an air filter really only cleans out bigger debri just "sitting on" the filter. To much compressed air blowing through it can actually tear the filter and let in more dirt.

damn mine says average 9mpg. keep my temp inside the truck at 78 but a/c seems like i hear the compressor going on and off.

You might get better mpg's with higher octane gas...results have varied with that tactic.
