Im debating which route to go when replacing my factory sub. Ive seen several posts about using a drop in aftermarket from Kicker, JL, JBL, Rockford and so on. I wonder if its possible, or if anyone has done it, to make a custom box, that would fit behind the panel where the factory box sits, but that would hold a shallow mount 10" sub, with adequate air space. Just curious, because I want a little more thump while maintaining the factory look. This is the sub Ive been considering:

Thanks for any input and Merry Christmas![emoji319]

I bet that thing bumps.
Yes mtx makes a ridiculously priced loaded thunder form box that fits a shallow 10"

A few have made custom box's that fit such speaker.

There's plenty of room, although it falls just short as far as specs for required air space on most or all subs. It's the route I'll be taking after I'm tired with my L7....which I don't see happening anytime soon lol.

I used the MTX Thunderform unloaded enclosure with a JL 10" sub and Soundstream amp. Sounds awesome but it wasn't cheap. It's hard to get enough cu in a homebuilt enclosure for a 10" due to the weird shape that's why I went with the Thunderform.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. May do a thunderform, since I'm not that good at carpentry. Red Rocket, what JL sub did you use?

05Single, love your mods. Been keeping up with your thread. Ive only had this Tahoe about a month, upgraded from a Grand Cherokee. [emoji16]

Thanks Red Rocket! Your build is coming along great! Im kinda chasing the pewter metallic/black theme too, but in more if an offroad stance. One question, how did you secure the jack to the second battery tray?

I just used the bolt and nut that held it in the back location if I remember right.

I was looking for a video or write up on a jack relocation to under the hood. But to my surprise I didn't find any

Probably because it's too easy- drill a hole and insert a bolt! As long as you don't have s second battery.
