I got a 2001 GMC Denali AWD. The back of the oil pan and around the oil filter is all oily. How hard is it to replace the oil pan gasket?

Got the same issue with my 02 Denali XL. Let me start off by telling you 1st I thought it was My Rear Main Seal. Had that changed, then thought it was my oil pan gasket( SUCH A PAIN in the A$$ and you don't want to do it yourself if you can afford to let a shop do it). But nope not there either. Now we think its my Valve cover gasket or my intake manifold and will be checking that tomorrow. I can see the oil dripping off my starter bolt. My advise, go with the easier of the jobs first. And Ill update this thread with my find

Thanks for the info. I just changed my intake gasket a week or so ago, maybe it is still burning the oil off?

I started with the oil pan- it was easy on a 2WD, not sure about an AWD truck. Then I did the intake set. Then I did the valve covers....Yesterday I did the rear main. Dry so far, need to put a few hundred miles on it to be sure its fixed. I hope it is, I'm running out of gaskets/seals to change/fix!

Check the oil pressure switch. Mine went bad and started leaking oil out, and I thought it was the oil pan also.
