Hey, new to the forum and thought I'd make an introduction.

Over the weekend my wife and I purhchased a 2001 GMC Yukon XL with the SLT package. I don't have any immediate plans of changes I want to make, but thought this forum looked like it could be a great source of information and help as I learn more about this vehicle.

A few of the details that I can remember right off the top of my head.

2nd Owner
95,000 miles
2 wheel drive
5300 Vortec V8
Leather Interior
Middle Row Captains Chairs
Brush Guard on Front (not sure if I want to keep this on or not.)

I'll try and get some pictures posted in the near future, but overall it appears to be in really good shape, a handful of small dents and dings around the body, and I can tell the rear driver's side quarter was repainted, but not sure exactly why.

A few near future needs: Tires (front are pretty worn, rear are ok), There's a bit of a squeeking noise coming from the passenger side wheels that I need to diagnose and fix. And sometimes when I apply the brakes there's a slapping noise. Anyhow, thought I'd say hi, introduce myself, and see what else I can find here.

Welcome.
Get that front end checked before you drive it much more. Sounds like a bearing and warped rotors.
Can't wait to see some pics. We all love pics

I jacked up the front end and started trying to determine the source of the noise, but didn't see or hear anything that raised an alarm. So I took it out driving to see if I could better pinpoint the sound. Turns out the sound is coming from the rear passenger side wheel. The squeaking is definitely related to the rotation as it's pretty consistent and speeds up and slows down with speed. Also the squeaking goes away with braking. The slapping sound seems to be brake related, and only seems to happen when I'm lightly pressing the brakes to slow down, if I press harder on the brakes the slapping sound goes away.

At this point, I'm thinking it's most likely a warped rear rotor making the squeaking sound, and the slapping sound maybe a caliper that's not securely mounted, or missing a bolt? It will be tomorrow before I can dig into it further, but I'll likely go ahead and do a brake job on it so I know they're all good.
