2001 or 2025 for Summer Trips

I have a 2024 Yukon Denali 6.2L and drive it on trips mostly now, only 6k miles at the moment.
BUT I am nervous about it. 6.2Ls are failing often, but I think I have done everything I can to reduce this possibly occurring.
I am also planning on rebuilding the transmission valve body as they are way too failure prone.
DFM is a problem area, would love to not have this feature, but for the past 10 years they all have either AFM or DFM, 50+ additional parts to wear out and fail!

I hate to say it but the never vehiles are over complicated and fragile, they have problems.
If I could have found a nice 2005 Denali with no rust an 100k miles I would have bought it all day long!

Mind if I ask, for how much did you buy your 2024 Yukon Denali?

I do not have a 2024 Yukon Denali. My newest vehicle is the 2001 Tahoe that I bought brand new in 01. My wife thinks the Tahoe is too old and does not want problems on the road, she wants me to get a 2025 Tahoe for the summer driving trips.

Bought my 2024 Yukon Denali XL new in Oct 2024.
Sticker was $89,285.00
Out the door price I paid was right at $87,000
That included dealer "contract" fee, title, taxes everything.

I assume there may be 2024's still on dealer lots that you could get a good deal on at this point in time?

There are over 100 regular (not XL) Denali's within 1000 miles of Milwaukee. Cheapest MSRP was $86K.

00-02 SUVs (99-02 Silverado/Sierra) are pretty rock solid. Extremely reliable, simple and very low cost of ownership. Minimal electronics interior (by today's standards) but still convenient.

I would say if the vehicle is well maintained, just keep running it. 130,000 miles is honestly pretty low mileage and barely broken into in my opinion. LS engines are not SBC that were basically done at 150k. Not uncommon for these to go 200k+. 300k is not that big deal anymore.

I had a former coworker that had an 02 or 03 Tahoe with original drivetrain. It went 400k+ miles with only regular maintenance. I think the only thing he changed was one wheel hub.
