Hello I have a 2001 Yukon XL that sometimes wont start. The truck spins over fast like there is no fire. Sometimes it will start on the second time you try but usually it takes three times. Has never took more then three times then it starts right up. It also has the idle surge issue that I have found the answer to on this forum. Going to clean the tb tonight. Could it be related? Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. Had the fuel pump checked and it is working fine also changed the fuel filter. Not sure what else I can try . Thank you for any info that may help.

the truck not starting like that is most likely a fuel issue. start by checking fuel pressure at the fuel rail. if its lower that 56-58 PSI then you have an issue. it could be a leak somewhere thats making the fuel go back to the tank so the pump has to pump gas for the truck to start. your problem could be a faulty fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pressure regulator. as i mentioned, start by checking the fuel pressure and let us know. then we'll go from there.

no problem man. theres a small cap on the passenger side rail. take that off while the truck is off. connect your gauge then turn ignition on while truck is off. and check the pressure. pressure should drop from 58 right away. it should take few mins. start the truck up and disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator. u should get 56-58 PSI. let me know if you need help

id say fuel pressure regulator on this guys... first off jstone does it not want to start when the truck has been warmed up like say u go to the gas station for some smokes and u go back to start it and u have to turn the key 3 times for it to light a fire under its ass and wake up? or do these symptoms occur on the first start of the day? if its warm and does this its definately the regulator.. i had to change one of these on the inlaws sierra with the 5.3 last summer...
