Hey guys I'm new to the forum and to Chevys, so I just recently took in a 2002 4x4 Tahoe on a trade i basically got it for next to nothing but it has high miles 240k and it needs a transmission. All forward gears won't work at all but reverse does work just fine. I pretty sure it is the 4l60e that's what I was told but what vehicles can I take a transmission from to get it to work? There are tons of late 90s Chevy pickups around that I could get a transmission out of but will one work? All input and advice is appreciated thanks in advance everyone

At that miliage it's just plane wore out. Anything of that body style 4l60 or 4l65 will fit. No changes at all to make it work. Late 90s is too much of a guessing game. Some will and some won't fit. Not worth the hassle.

I believe 2004+ have a different internal wiring harness. But will work. Swap the harness from your original transmission when you swap.

6.0 liters
The 6.0 trannys are the same as the 5.3. 4l65 just a beefed up 4l60 put behind a 6.0. Direct replacement. I did all the research last year and just did the swap a few weeks ago.
The 4l80 will fit but that will take some modifications of the exhaust and cross member. Wiring in the plug needs to be moved around. And you will need to shorten the drive shaft. And retuned.

I got all the info I needed on performance tucks and gm trucks forum. There are pages and pages to read on this.

I don't have any pictures. I thought I took some of the two trannies side by side but looks like I didn't. The out side is the same just a few of the internal components are beefier on the 4l65.
