2002 denali transfer case interchangeable

I'm getting mixed answers locally as to whether or not the BorgWarner and New Process all wheel drive transfer cases are interchangeable.

My '02 denali has a New Process 149 in it, and the rear output is getting a lot of wear internally, so I'm keeping my eyes open for another one.

All I've been finding so far are some 2003 and newer ones with the Borg-warners'.
Anyone know for sure?
