I just got an 02 tahoe 2wd with 65k miles, completely stock; is there any mods I should do to help with reliability? I only move it on the weekends or long trips, no harsh driving, any suggestions or should I leave it stock, also what suspension upgrades could I put on it?

if you want to make it a "toy", cam, headers, tune, higher stall, tc, exhaust. if your just taking family trips and the likes. just leave it stock, its the most reliable that way.
at 65k, you found a gem really. as long as its not rotted out.

65k?! That thing is almost brand new!

Engine is good for another 200k before any major work.

As far as preventative items due to age, maybe the heater quick connects near the firewall. Those definitely do tend to break with age.

Not rusty at all, Thank you for your suggestion, I really don't want to do much to it, I really like to leave it stock unless it would improve reliability. I heard if I put a larger transmission cooler would be good but not sure about that.

if your towing with it a trans cooler would be a great item to add.

you can always scan for live data and see just how hot the tranny gets. if its getting over 200º do a cooler for sure. cooler the temp the better, but not under 170 ish. it needs some heat in it.

I would leave it completely stock. But that is just me.

Only two mods can possibly IMPROVE durability & longevity:
1. Axle gear upgrade, to 3.90 or 4.10 takes some strain off the transmission
A light footed driver will be even more lightfooted with more axle, which may also help MpG.
2. PCM tune, customized specifically for your laid back tastes, as opposed to 'enthusiasm'.

Speaking of COMPLETELY STOCK ...
Upgrade your front brakes with COMPLETELY STOCK front brakes from a 2010 Suburban.
Ask for COMPLETELY STOCK front caliper brackets, front calipers, front rotors, and front pads.
If necessary upgrade to COMPLETELY STOCK 17" wheels to utilize 2010 Suburban front brake kit.
17" wheels have more - and also more better - tires to choose from.
Now your COMPLETELY STOCK Tahoe will also brake much better too.
