i just modded my 02 bezel to fit a double din and it actually fits nicely IMO and doesn't have any clearance issues.

and if i had seen this post i probably would tried this method...

Great Work! Thanks for the Pics

I really appreciate your posting with the pictures. I have just started researching the exact same retrofit. In my opinion, the in-dash double din looks WAY better than the single din fold out. Not to mention the trans shifter is in the way while in park.

I noticed that there are some problems finding the back cage for the 03-06. I found a site that may solve that issue. This guy developed a double din mount for the 00-02. It looks like it fits right in the stock 00-02 cage.

He has pics of a retrofit using the stock bezel, but he had to cut it. I am wondering if the 03-06 bezel with his kit will get the job done fairly easily

I am going to send him some questions next.

Did you ever find anything out about this set up?

Yes, I did write email the guy at thedetalialss.com. Sean Anderson. Really nice guy. He still suggests that you just use the original bezel and cut it. There were too many other issues with the 03 bezel that did not fit right. It does not seem too tough to make the mods he suggests. I found another bezel at a junk yard so I would not ruin my original. I am going in that direction although I see his kits are sold out for the moment.

I imagine it will take me a month or so to get this done in my spare time - which does not exist.... I'll hop back on and post some pics of the kit the cutting and such.
