Carefully Dan, you'll burn your lips lol:p!
Seriously--that was an awesome way how you opened up the cat to clean it out. Nice job buddy.

If anybody needs a kidney removed I'm a certified street doctor now. :superhack:

We will see how good it looks after I weld it back up. Kinda irritated I just now looked to see if HPtuners works with this car and it says 04+ I don't have any idea what year this car is (PO still holds the title until we can go to the DMV together because its an E title) but I'm thinking 02-03 which sucks because I won't be able to clear the O2 codes or the EGR delete. Might have to get MIl eliminators ($84 each but still cheaper than new cats) and rebuild the EGR system which is a PITA because everything is usually seized and breaks off.

What does the tag on the ds lower inner pillar say? Should tell you the year.

Yeah I was gonna check when I got home but the PO confirmed its an 03 :(.

So spark plug foulers and rebuild or clean out the EGR system to make it not throw a code. I'm curious about how loud it will be with 3 cats missing and stock exhaust. Either way, I'm currently in $64 on top of the $500 purchase price not too bad if it runs right now. Also found compressors for $140 so I might revive the AC.

Your time is worth something. Cutting open cats and welding them never heard of that.

Yeah, my time is worth something but I enjoy working on stuff and if I wasn't working on this turd I'd be spending money on parts for something else that won't net me any income in return like usual hahaha. Plus I'm kinda at a standstill on all my projects, forged 370 still at the shop, 14bolt waiting to get trussed by a buddy, Tacoma waiting on the body shop, all 3 trailers have been painted and are ready for full service, golf cart just got serviced, 4 wheeler smokes the mosquitos away perfectly, and lastly the Tahoe doesn't NEED anything. Oh and my house is falling apart but that's not important :jester:

As for the cats I typically grab a big pipe and beat the cats out but this y pipe has way too many curves to get any sort of pipe in so cut and weld it was! Gives me good practice on getting the welder set up right for exhaust. I typically overpower everything to try and get some extra *********** out of the little Hobart but exhaust will burn up easy and get holes, which is exactly why there are a few globby spots.
