Started talking about this in the daily thread but it's gotten serious and I don't want to clog that up.

On my way to work today at a stoplight the engine began to shake, I took off from the light gingerly and it seemed ok but then died a few seconds later. Oil pressure was good and It had no engine codes. I had it towed to a friends business nearby and checked the following.

-Fuel pressure
-MAP sensor
-ECT sensor
-Crank sensor
-TB connections

All checked good so I shotgunned a cam sensor assuming something was stopping the engine from getting spark or spark at the correct time.

After replacing the cam sensor the truck was able to start rough with the throttle being pressed and if you modulate the throttle you can keep it running rough. There is no smoke, no leaks, and no engine lights still however, something doesn't sound right on the passenger side. Kinda like piston slap or a lifter not pumping up maybe.

Just stopped by on my way home and checked the oil. I checked the oil last night and it was at the top dot but not passed it. Also, the coolant overflow tank is now empty and has taken 6 water bottles but it drains into the radiator as if it was really low on coolant which it shouldn't have been because it was just topped off a few weeks ago and there are no leaks that I know of.

Really hoping its not a blown head gasket or worse.

Running home to grab tools and come back ready for war.:gr_guns:

I'm hoping for the best Dan. If it's broken at least you can fix it.

How the hell could that have happened?? At least you're valve didn't drop. I hope there's no other damage other than what we can see.

Oh, it dropped! Then rode the piston high in the saddle until the stem pushed through the cylinder head.

Kinda like that time you were wiping extra aggressively and your finger poked through the paper.

Dat ***********, doe. So tight and clean, like the cylinder head was made of Jell-O.
