2004 Chevy Tahoe - Driver side front tire - sounds like it is grinding when I lift the tire and spin the wheel by hand. This morning, leaving my house I heard a clunk noise.
I immediately stopped and check for anything broken or hanging down (it sounded like something broke), but I couldn't see anything. When I started driving (slowly) again. I could hear a scraping sound and it felt like the brakes were sticking... I added a little gas and as the Tahoe moved, it felt like the momentum "broke" lose the brakes. I stopped and check the outside of the Tahoe again, but nothing.
I check the brakes and they worked just fine. When I started moving again (under 5mph), it would happen again. I can shift to drive and take my foot off the brake pedal and the Tahoe would roll forward about 5 feet then stop (as if I pressed the brake pedal). When I would give it some gas, it would "break" loose and then I would roll another 5-10 feet and then it would "brake" again.
Any ideas?

When I first read your post I thought it could be a bad wheel/hub bearing but now I am wondering if you have a frozen/stuck caliper.

I agree with the caliper hanging up. My F-350 had the same symptom and thats what I found to be wrong with it. I replaced it and all went back to normal.

Same boat

I had similar symptoms. Grinding noise, nothing looks bad. Even though the noise sounded like it came from the driver's side, it turned out to be on the passenger side. Wheel hub bearings shot. I found out by applying breaks in a corner and the wheel nearly fell off. Hope you are OK.
:Frustrated:
