Wasn't sure if I should post here or somewhere else but I just noticed the ac compressor cycles all the time using plain heat. AC and defrost are off. I'm wondering if this is something that happens because of the electronic climate control? I never noticed it before but started digging a bit because of the condenser puddles that it's been leaving behind lately.

No, not normal. Easiest method of trobleshooting is to see what a scan tool says the A/C demand is while you have the switches for A/C and defrost off but the heat on.
