2004 Denali XL has demons-Revised
I am pretty sure I have narrowed down my electrical issue to a faulty Body Control Module. I have located the parts, but I have a question about what I see. On my existing part#15116066, there is a sticker on the module with 6 boxes, labeled from left to right: BLK BLUE BRN GRAY NAT. All boxes are black except the one labeled "GRAY" which is colored Pink and has the word "Pink" in the box.
On photos of the new module with replacement #10367690, it has the same 6 boxes and all are black except the one labeled BLUE, which is colored kind of turquoise, and has the "GRN" printed in the center.
I am not sure what the significance of those color boxes are. Can anyone in here help me "break the code"?
Also, while I am asking. I have been given mixed answers about whether or not this BCM needs to be flashed. I have been told by the parts house that it does not. I think I am learning that it receives most of its information from the ECM, but that the "theft deterrent system" needs to be reset, and that it can be done at the dealer using a "Tech 2" scanner. But I have also found a "manual" method that simply goes though 3 cycles of attempting to start, then leaving the ignition on for 10-30 minutes, turning off, and the repeating through 3 complete cycles, and then the BCM will "learn" a new password for allowing fuel to pass through.
I just need confirmation of these details if a Certified GMC Mechanic reads these forums.
Thanks
