Sometimes when I start our Yukon, I have no shift quadrant light, message panel light, radio light, or heater panel light, all dark. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

Have you tried moving the dimmer wheel to see if it’s intermittent? Possibly the dash lights are getting dimmed all the way down.

The dash light dimmer switch doesn't have any effect on these lights, the dimmer seem to be just for the illumination, like for the speedometer, gauges. The lights that disappear are the digital odometer/ dic message, shift quadrant letters, radio lights, heater ac lights.

They are working today, next time they don't work, I'll try playing with all the switches.

Could you post up a pic of your instrument cluster, and perhaps the heater ac switches?

Are you talking about the lights on the switches themselves, and not the backlighting?

When you start the car up, there is nothing lit up. No odometer reading, nothing that tells you what gear you are in, the radio does not show what station your on, the heater ac does not tell you temp or anything. These things are all blank, standard 2004 Yukon dash. I'm an old fart, no cell phones or anything, I'd have to get a camera. It is like you haven't even started the car up, but it's running. Car runs fine, you just put it in gear, I can feel drive, but nothing is lit up there, telling you what gear you are in.
The dash is the same of any other Yukon-Tahoe I've seen.

Cluster needs to be rebuilt if your not getting odometer, PRNDL. Etc. Not sure on your radio. The circuit controlling those is your accessory switched 12v wire.

This is an intermittent problem. Only does it every now and then. But when it does it, no PRNDL, no ododmeter/dic message, radio, heater, ac light. The radio plays, but you can't see what station your on, the heater and ac works, you just can't see the settings. Next time you start the car up, all is normal.
Had the cluster rebuilt a few years ago, because of speedometer issue.

It kind of sounds like a ground issue, might be looking for a common ground for that lighting circuit. A subscription to www.alldatadiy.com will give you access to factory wiring diagrams including ground locations. You might be able to access it on the GM up fitter site as well.
