I have searched around and also gone to several installers and I have not been able to get a firm answer so I'm hoping you guys can answer some questions. I just bought a used 2005 Tahoe LT with the Bose, non-navigation stereo and a rear DVD player. I want to replace the head unit with something that will let me make calls and listen to my iPhone music. My questions are:

1) will replacing the hu disable the rear DVD system? I have the IR headphones and saw a post that said it was still usable but only via headphone but an installer told me he thought it would be disabled. What options are there for tying in the rear DVD player into the new head unit if any?

2) is there a system that will allow me to still use the zone 2 stereo system that is at the back of the center console? I have 2 kids and thought it would be great to have them be able to listen to a cd and my wife and I listen to the iPhone music

3) is there a unit that I can get that will plug into the existing stereo and let me make calls and listen to music through an auxiliary input? This may be the cheapest/easiest so as to not disable several of the other accessories.

1. I can't answer a definite yes or no. Just like the installer you talked to, I am not sure.

2. I CAN tell you for sure that the rear seat audio controls ONLY work with the stock stereo, and nobody as far as I know makes any adapter to use it with an aftermarket stereo.

3. Yes, there are quite a few Ipod controllers, and AUX input adapters on the market. I know PAC, Scosche, and Peripheral are a few companies that make them.

Thanks for the reply. I am now researching the adapters. Anyone have any specific experience with them? How good is the calling quality and the music sound?
