Ok- here is one that has me stumped.... 4x4 would engage when you would only turn the key half way. I did some research, pointed to the encoder motor or sensor..... Since I was down there, I decided to put a new front diff. actuator in. I replaced the encoder motor sensor. Encoder motor works fine. Locks the front drive shaft in when any of the 4hi or 4lo is selected. You can also hear it clunking in the transfer case. Front diff. actuator is spinning like it should.
So I go out to check it. I find some snow. Enough to make the back tires spin, which should then make the front end grab... < Correct? Well, it's not grabbing at all. The rear tires just spin and the front does nothing. The transfer case does go into 4lo also... I made sure it was not just "lighting" the 4lo, I drove it in 4lo..... Again, front drive shaft is also locking up when 4hi or lo is selected..... SOOOOO, what could be the issue?

Well, believe it or not, it is now working again...... The only thing my mechanic and I can figure out is, while we were changing stuff out, checking it along the way, it threw a couple Service 4wd codes. He said once we got it all back together, it should clear it. The codes did go away but we were thinking that it took a few times of starting the engine to recycle the computer completely..... Not sure if this make sense, but it is working now.
