Okay, my vehicle hunter has another vehicle for me to take a look at? 2005/Z71 w/73,000 miles. NAV/DVD/AC with running boards tow package and Quad seating. I would imagine the Z71 package raises the price. These types of vehicles are higher cost out here where I live due to being a country/hunting/camping/fishing area. I can wait and see what else is out there, but if the condition of this one is excellent, I'm thinking I'll go for it?

Or 2004 Z71, no bells and whistles for 18400 w/63000 miles. Is there any major differences between the years 04/05?

I'm thinkin I'll keep this for 6yrs, which will put mileage up to around 183,000 on the 05. Once kids gone I can get something else, and from what I've read it might hang in there for longer with mainenance/care.

05-06 had e-fans, i'm sure there is a couple minor changes to engine components.

73k for 19500 still seems too high to be honest. and so does 18500 for 63k

If prices are higher in your market you may considering traveling to a neighboring state to get a better price. I'd go private party if you can help it. You'll pay a lot less if it's not on a dealership, I guess that just depends on your finances.

Excellent
$16,560

Good
$15,660

Fair
$14,510

for an 05 with 73k according to KBB

Keep in mind the economy still blows right now and there are deals to be had. Just be patient and you'll get what you want at a lot less. Or just go for it and hope for the best. I wouldn't buy any extended warranties. Also keep in mind that no matter what you buy you'll have to probably spend money on something to get fixed, however minuite.

Have a trade-in

Well, would by from private, but, need to unload my Suzuki... So, I'll eat some cash on that. We thought about traveling, made one trip to a dealer, I got the times wrong and they were 15 minutes from closing, wouldn't give us the time of day...After driving 100 miles my husband was pretty upset. Our fault for misreading the times, but they would have had a purchase if they just would have at least let us see the vehicle inside/& test drive.

Our time is so stretched that paying a bit more seems worth it. Out here there are some on auto trader for 20,999... same/everything. I trust this guy, not like the last. He has a great reputation for locating good vehicles. The last guy was an example of why people have problems trusting used care sales men. I'm SOOOOOOO glad I walked away from that rust bucket!!!

You are probabley right about the $$ but everyday I drive my Suzuki the trade-in value goes down

i know its not as new but i got my 01 z71 with alittle over 80k and aftermarket dvd, subs, 22's with brand new tires, remote start 2way alarm and exhaust for @$10. these things will last forever as long as they are taken care of, if i were you i might look a few years older or talk the owner down a bit cause those both seem alittle high

I don't trust anyone that works at a car dealer... They're there to make money, not all are bad, but most have their job to think about and not always your best intentions in mind.

When I ran the Tahoe with the Z71 and all the extras I got 19,230 for dealer price in Excellent condition. You guys are correct, guess I would be paying for having someone else do the work and take my Suzuki off my hands. I could try to sell it to private party then take that cash and put it back on the Tahoe. I also want a warranty and several friends of mine have vouched for this guys warranty being legit. The 2004 was only 1000 less with no bells and whistles...

Actually I left a few things off, KBB says 21,705. Amazing how much a few extras can add including having the 5.3 vs. 4.8 engine??? I'm skeptical about the ones with higher miles/lower pricing. I was raised to think if it sounds to good to be true... than again, I could get this and be kicking myself when I see much better deals:emotions122: When you look at auto trader in my zip they just aren't that low??? I'm not ignoring you all, I've just been looking at auto trader etc... drove one horribly priced for the rust etc... and am SOOOO ready to get behind the wheel.

if you want that z71, i would talk the guy down to at least 18k, i know when i bought my truck from the dealer, it was listed at 7k, i told him i could have 6k in cash in his hand, within 30 minutes if he wanted it, if not, i'd walk, surprisingly enough, (or not) he took it, he did try to haggle me, but i wouldn't budge, they just need to know you're serious... also if you take the warranty the sales guy generally gets like 80% of the price in commission, so you can use that to haggle too, "what would this truck cost me if i took your extended warranty" (works in electronics stores too)

Wow, my LT (higher trim level than z71) was 12,000 @ 82k (dealer).

there is no way on gods green earth I'd pay 20k, especially as common as z71s are around every elementary school :)
It was hard to find a NON-4wd around here.

MAybe you should fly to the southwest/south and drive home with a new car? Especially if it is going to save you 3-6 thousand dollars.
