2006 Tahoe 4WD Z71 RPM's jumping on Hwy

Help! My wife called me from the road. She said that our 126,000 mile 2006 Tahoe 4WD Z71 twice jumped from 2000 to 6000 RPMs while driving on flat highway. The Cruise Control wasn't engaged. Suggestions?

Like it was reving without catching gears? Mine did the same thing one day..Got on the highway and wouldn't shift to 4th, let off the gas a bit and it would just rev at anything over about 50 mph. Was my transmission and I had to get it rebuilt.

Yep....sounds like a transmission issue from what you're describing.
