I seen that there was a thread on here about new Tahoe's and Yukon's having this issue so I was wondering if there was anybody with this issue on older models? Mine is at 161000 miles and it started this last year and it is just intermittently and only last for about 2 weeks and then done. I have no issues with the 4 wheel drive going in or out. Please let me know if anyone has any idea about it.

Start there. I check my 04 Tahoe when this happened. Switch was bad. Checked my 03 Suburban when it did this. Switch is good. Looking to reprogram the module. Will let you know how that goes.

Mine (2004 4.8L) flashed that message and it turned out to be the transfer case encoder motor sensor. The light on the 4WD selector switch went to red eventually and it wouldn't switch from 2WD. Had to take the motor off the t-case, take it apart and replace the sensor. About 3 hours front to back, there's a couple good Youtube videos about it.
