I am having an issue with my yukon when parking in my driveway head first, uphill. If it rains I might as well have poured a gallon of water in my headliner...

It leaks through the rear vents, dvd, every hole into the headliner.

I found that if I back into the drive it wont happen. I am thinking that it is the sunroof seal but I am wondering if the yukon has rain channels in the headliner. Even if the seal leaks it should have 4 drains up there, right?

This is my first american car, I am basing my thoughts off of my VWs...

Any help, pictures, links to schematics, etc are appreciated.

Could be a drain. There is a gutter assembly with drain hoses. Open the sunroof, crawl up there, and see if anything is clogged or out of place. Might need to pull the inside panel and inspect things.

I've taken my air compressor blower and taped on a straw and blown out the drains when they have been plugged, just find the hole in the sunroof rail and stick the straw in there and go for it! Also when I think I've blown out all of them I slowly fill the track at each corner and make sure water comes out under the truck!

Thanks so much, I will try that!

Leaky headliner

I was reading some other posts and I am having the same problem with my 2003 Yukon XL Denali. I have a sunroof in it and thought it might be leaking around it, now I am wondering about the drains being plugged. I also read another post about someone having a leak coming through the onstar antenna. Anyone else had this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The drains are your best bet to try, I have had other cars with these that clogged. Also be careful when blowing them out, I'm not sure about these trucks, but many cars just have a cheap PVC or whatever tubing for the drains. I would worry if you have an airtight clog, and if you have a blow gun that fits tight in the drain, you could blow the tubing somewhere in the middle. Maybe not likely to have such a good seal, but I wouldn't want to tear the interior apart to run new drains.

If I remember right, the drains in the sunroof were bigger than a straw so when blowing air in there, if it was clogged the air could escape without blowing stuff apart!! The straw was cool because it was small enough to get in there and flexable as well to get it into the hole of the drain!!
Another thing I forgot to add to my last response is to be careful about filling the track with water when a drain/'s were plugged, only put enough water in there to make a puddle, don't keep filling it much or else it will flood out of the track if too much and get into the interior of the truck!!

Are these drains easy to find? We finally got some rain here in texas yesterday. This morning my headliner on the front drivers side is wet.

I sorta have a similiar issue, except that my drivers side floorboard is always wet. I checked where the ebrake cable grommet goes through the firewall, and it's tight...no water getting in. I put some silicone around it anyways. But my drivers floorboard is always wet. Could the drains be related?
