I was removing the part mentioned above from my Tahoe and broke the plastic bowite that is Gold. I have been having trouble locating a replacement. Does anyone have any sugesstions? I hear this is a OEM product. But i do not want to purchase the Aluminum piece, just the plastic gold bowtie part. Thanks for your help!

Based on what I've read here, I'm 98% sure that that bowtie is sold as ONE piece, and that you can't buy just the gold.

...But lots of people here have removed that gold piece, and so someone probably has one that they can give you.

You can't buy just the gold part. It is a thin cover part of the rear bowtie assembly.

Thank you guys for your quick response. That would be great if someone had one they wanted to give me, or even make a quick few dollars. I basically need it because i wanted to paint it in the same color as my Tahoe. I made it work for the front bowtie and it looks pretty good. I just screwed up the back. So, if there are any takers out there, let me know. Thanks!

Are you sure that (since you're painting the rear one) you can't just glue the gold back together, sand it, paint it, and have it look perfect? I could see where NOT painting it would let cracks be visible... But would paint hide any defects in your stock one?

Paint would hide some cracks, but not deep ones that went entirely through the bowtie.

VB, why not clean off the glue on the chrome bowtie that is under the gold piece that you broke and paint that?

Zach -- Not just paint, but paint on a glued (filled) and sanded bowtie. I was thinking that THAT might hide the cracks...

Has anyone done a delete? I would like the back bowtie gone completely...

You could change it to the Yukon molding, or buy one of those chrome rear applique covers on eBay that does not have the bowtie cutout, and paint it your truck's color.
