Uh....LS engine cam bearings do have a layer that's visible when the cam bearings wear out. Copper will show up on an oil analysis when the bearings get to that point.

The OP likely has a cam bearing that walked out of its bore and an edge broke off.
I've never seen the LS crankshaft or rod bearings with this layer.
