I've had my Tahoe for several years and never really thought it was very quiet inside. I have a friend with a 04 Escalade EXT that is super quiet and rides so much better. Mine is a 2 wheel drive. Seems I hear road noise and air noise from the back area and rear doors mostly. Now I've done the dollar bill test, where you close the door with a bill inside and pull gently. Seems they are all pretty tight and well adjusted.
Any ideas? When I had the custom paint job done, they removed the interior door skins. Perhaps something there? There's got to be something I can do to quiet this truck down.

What trim level is your Tahoe? I have an LTZ and it is pretty quiet. I had wind noise on the front doors so I removed the plastic trim where the outside rear view mirror is bolted to the door and saw that there was only a foam like material in there so I bought some thick duck tape and covered the holes and it made a huge difference.

There is also a TSB for wind noise from the rear window. I noticed road noise especially when I towed our trailer. My dealership had this information and it helped a lot. I also use white grease on all the rubber around the doors and tailgate to keep them pliable.

Yes, I found out about the rear window problem on my way to Sturgis one year. Kept flapping up from a wind tunnel type of effect. Mine was out of warranty by then so I adjusted the striker for a tighter fit.

They may have damaged the plastic liners under the door panels when painting the jambs. I would get some sound deadner and do the doors first. Some guys here use the frost king Home Depot stuff with decent results.

Great idea. I'll look into that. Home Depot sells it for insulation?

Google frost King Sound deadner videos on YouTube. I would stay away from the tar backed stuff it's shown not to last but the foam should hold up fine. Just remember to clean the metal really good with alcohol and a scrubby or similar.

How was the road noise before those particular tires were used? Some road noise is completely isolated to the tires used. I have a 07 Yukon SLT with 305/35/24 cheap Goodride tires, and they are quiet compared to a lot of other tires. The LTZ, SLT and Esky has more sound deader than the cheaper models. You might need to add a sound barrier under the rear carpet and around the wheel wells

Your right about the tires. I'm running Michelins, and I hate them. Your supposed to run 50 psi, but they're way too hard at the pressure. The lowest my TP monitor will let me run is 40 without constant reminders. Wish there was a way to lower that, especially in the winter.
