OK, my problems started with the lights not coming on when the door was opened etc, so I replaced the switch. Now when I unlock the door manually with the key my alarm will go off and it no longer allows me to unlock all the doors by turning the key to the left twice ( which might be caused by the alarm going off). Did I buy the wrong switch? Or does something have to be reprogrammed? I did a little searching but didn't find any similar threads. Thanks in advance....

Is there a reason you aren't just using the key fob to unlock?

I don't know much about the factory alarm in these trucks, but I know in other GM vehicles (their lower end stuff), unlocking the door with just the key will set the alarm off. If you had a bad door switch before, the car wouldn't recognize that the door was being opened and wouldn't set the alarm off. Now that you've fixed it, it is recognizing the door opening without the alarm being disarmed first, which may be triggering the alarm.

Yea that's true didn't think of it that way. The key fob is broken and the stealership wants $200 for a new one and to program it. I guess I'll break down and replace it and see if that helps it.

Assuming your '07 Tahoe has a similar system to my '07 Denali (I'm sure it's the exact same), a key fob is $20 and you can program it yourself in about 30 seconds.

I bought this one, which appears to be OEM GM and if it isn't, it feels and works exactly like it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262185855926?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

It comes with programming instructions, but basically you press some buttons on your DIC until "relearn key fobs" pops up, hold down the check mark button for a few seconds, it will say "key fob relearn active" and you hold down the lock and unlock buttons on your new key fob until it beeps. Voila, you have a fully functioning key fob for 30 seconds of effort.

This is what I did. I think i may have paid 33 bucks for a pair of fobs just as backup.

Well dang I didn't realize it was simple as that, I'll be ordering one today then! Is the remote start and electric tailgate button the same method?

Buy the fob that matches your old one exactly and all the functions will work with the one-step programming.

Obviously, if your Tahoe didn't come with a power liftgate, buying a fob with the power liftgate button will not magically give your rig a power liftgate (same with remote start), but as long as you buy one with all the right buttons, they will work.
