Hello folks. I'm a new Tahoe owner (2007), and a trying to figure out how to do a simple tranny fluid drain and fill. I found a procedure on GM Full Size that seems straightforward, but didn't have much success with it today.

After carefully studying the images and description in the post, I somehow managed to drain the coolant instead of the tranny fluid. You can see a picture of the line I unhooked in this picture:

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!

From what I gather....you have to drop the pan and actually loosen the exhaust so you can get the pan completely out. I bought an aftermarket pan to put on next time the dealer does this service for me so I can easily do drain and fills on my own moving forward. Good luck.

Thank you both. I was so sure I was disconnecting the right line based on the walk through.

I'm very sure it had coolant in it, though. It was thin and orange in color, and I could see my coolant reservoir emptying out.

After looking at some YouTube videos on tranny cooling line replacement, I'm thinking the correct line is a couple of feet below where I was. Does everyone just drop the pan every time they want to drain and fill? It just seems like a lot of effort.

I'm tempted to add the aftermarket pan with a drain plug - what brand did you use, and are you happy with it?

I have had good luck sticking a long piece of 1/4 hose down the dipstick tube and siphoning oil out. Haven't tried it on my Yukon, but I've done it to swap a gallon or so of trans fluid every year on my other vehicles.
