New to the forum. After owning a 99 Tahoe for virtually 10 problem free years, I made the leap into a 2007 Yukon. The Yukon was purchased from a GM dealer, with approx 20,000kms of power train warranty plus the "optimum warranty" from the dealer. Within the first 3000kms of ownership, I required a new intermediate steering column, a 4x4 sensor, a 4x4 rebuild, molding re-attachment, re-attachment of the rear defrost cable....and currently tracking down 2 more window moulding which have broken or become unattached. Considering the quality of my Tahoe which really never required more than basic maintenance, and 2 new door handles (with 338000kms on it) I am quite disappointed with this vehicle, and the "optimum warranty" is a joke!! The intermediate steering column issue, I discovered 3 days after buying the vehicle.....which the service guy at the dealership should have noticed when he performed the safety. Never again. BTW, the Tahoe was a used vehicle as well.

Imo, this is why you don't buy a first, or second, model year vehicle, unless you are prepared to pay for some repairs. Your 99 was one of the final years for the OBS. If you're gonna play be prepared to pay.

Welcome to the forum... I think... lol

What was the steering column problem? Mine is making an odd "whir" noise when I turn the wheel. Just wondering if your issue and mine are anything alike.

Hang in there. You'll get lots of support here.

The steering shaft made a light clunking sound when turning the wheel that you can hear when turning. Steering column was covered under warranty, less $100 deductible.

the Steering shaft thing was a TB and you may want to try a different dealership for service too. I know here in my town the dealer isnt all that friendly when dealing with service. However for work I travel in the KON and when i go to Canton, TX they have a great GMC dealer there that has taken care of the KON several times over and made her right for little or nothing each time! just my Opinion.

I guess you just got a bad luck car. It happens sometimes. I got a car with 30K miles 2009 and transmission case had to be changed. You have to fix it and go on. Back in the days they made cars a lot better.

Sorry about the bad luck with the purchase..I actually had the door handle issue as well. I came at the driver door at an awkward angle and went to pull the handle and it popped. Supposedly the chrome handles are much more sensitive than the body colored ones...have no idea why.

Good luck with everything, and hang in there!

On my 08 Tahoe, both chrome handles on the driver side broke at 20k miles!! It's complete BS but thankfully the dealerships will repair it free of charge. GL!!
