2008 Escalade randomly won't shift, service everything light on

I have a 2008 Escalade and it has been randomly not shifting. The shifter moves and sounds like it's physically changing gears but the lights on the dash either don't work or don't work correctly. I also get the service everything /check engine lights that seem to accompany any issue.

Resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery fixes the issue temporarily. The shift cable/bushing looks to be fine.

Is there a range sensor or something? Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a range sensor (some may call it a neutral safety switch).

Usually on the GM transmissions they are mounted on the driver's side of the transmission. I am not for sure on this one.

I have not ever heard of one inside the transmission. On vehicles with console shifters they will put it inside the console but never inside the transmission. Sounds like something those Germans would do.

Just watched a video of dropping the 6L80 valve body.....it's in the transmission but accessible by just dropping the pan.
