He just texted me back and asked what it costs to do the window regulator/motor. I just told him that since I am allowed to supply my own parts at the shop I use, the motor/regulator assembly would be in the neighborhood of around $110 parts plus shipping if any. Plus I had already checked the shop I use and their labor would be likely $150 but could be sightly more, $50, if they ran in to problems with what may have come apart in there. I reminded him that would be an immediate concern and money out of my pocket right after I bought the Tahoe from him. I have a feeling he really is thinking he would sell to me for the $9750 he said his neighbor had offered but I think the neighbor is a ghost and the offer does not exist.

I then reminded him, again, that his ad says interior and leather are in "excellent" shape and it just is not. The ad also states the exterior/paint is in "excellent" shape and it is not. I then said for the second time this morning that I would come road test tomorrow with $9k cash in hand. No more CL ad, no more calls and texts. No more haggling. Vehicle gone and cash in his hand. I still say I believe I will get for $9k. But then again, I have been wrong before.

I think you should’ve took the deal when he offered instead of trying to beat him down more. You can’t penalize someone for work stuff if the truck is in typical condition (regulator, dash, and seat) and for problems that might happen down the road (AFM). That’s why the truck is $10k now instead of the $40k it was new.

I gave 6600 for a 2009 Tahoe Hybrid with 195k miles but it had 3500 worth of lift wheels and tires that were installed right before I bought it so I guess you could say it was a 3100 purchase. One year later at 219k (24k driven miles) the biggest thing that I have had to do is replace the hybrid battery, other than that one big expense it is doing well with just a few minor issues. To me the hybrid tech is fascinating and you can typically buy these GM twomode Hybrids for cheap.

If it were me and I was remotely interested in this vehicle and he called me with the reduced offer, I would have countered immediately with your bottom line. That said, I don't think you'll ever be happy with this car.
Walk away, keep looking for one that you think has what you want, check it out and go from there. I did just that and found what I wanted in a used Yukon, for a reasonable price and have been happy since.

The last offer I made him was my bottom line. $9000 was all I was willing to pay. If he sells it, no big deal. I will move on and keep an eye out for "just the right one" for me. I already have a buyer for my 2002 when and if I buy another one. The person that wants mine is a member at my American Legion post and is willing to wait. This was eye opening on what people think they have when selling their rigs. I know lots here think I dragged it out too much but I was not going to pay more than what it was worth to me. If I "needed" a Tahoe I would have paid the $10k but I did not need one. It wasn't meant to be.

I bought my "04 Denali in 2012 with 110K on it. Now at 240K still have entire original drivetrain. I am a maintenance fanatic.

My dad taught me many moons ago that "maintenance pays and breakdowns cost".

My Dad taught me to drive them into the ground, don't do nuthin', when it breaks, go out and buy another. My neighbor and good senses taught me about maintenance! LOL

Love my Dad, the last time I saw him work on a car was mom's '72 Pontiac Ventura. Then, when I got old enough to turn wrenches, he got amnesia and didn't know how to gap a plug anymore or change the oil!
