2008 Tahoe-What to look for

That I did. He had said there was only one of the trucks he wanted, in the whole state. Some salesman told him that for sure to put desperation in his mindset. If you look at his new post/ad, you can see where he has changed conditions from excellent to "great" interior shape, from excellent to "very nice" overall shape but on the list of vehicle items on the right he is saying "good" condition. Yes, I am nit picking but he was way over exaggerating conditions and I called him on it. I know it is a sales tactic but the least he could have done was detailed the inside of the truck before listing the way he did.

I would talk to Grandma to really see if this was her truck. In about 30 seconds after talking to her you should have your answer. Grandma should have ALL the service records if this is true.

I generally do not believe anything I hear when it comes to buying used vehicles..That is why I put it on the rack and check everything out.

I did not push to put on rack because he had told me he took it to a shop I am very familiar with. I know 2 techs there personally. Turns out one of them worked on the Tahoe about 90% of the time it came in. They did the recommended maintenance work on time and seemed to always repair as needed. He said if they would not give me repair/maintenance records that he would supply them. I am not a fan of the owner of the shop though. I always call and talk to one of the 2 techs I know there.

how often were the oil changes? they should have service records

This thread can end now that I have decided not to buy it. It is still up at CL for $9500 and I would have, at one time, given him $9000 but he never called me back like I thought he would. I am looking at a black 2004 on Sunday.

I still don't get it. You've added that this truck has been maintained by a shop you already trust and you're still baulking at $500? You'll spend way more than that out of spite in repairs and maintenance on an older truck. The issues you've stated this truck has are minimal and common. The seats are generally in much worse shape on the GMT800's so you're still going to have to deal with that and I've seen a lot of them with the dash peeling, too. If it's all about the money, quit worrying about how the guy didn't do things how you would have liked and buy what appears to be a good truck at a good price.
