At 50k miles, my dealer wanted to flush the coolant and replace (BS) and flush the rear differential and replace with new fliud (which I actually heard was not a bad idea).

I was also told to replace the belts, but they wanted like $200-$250 to do that and I can do it myself for alot less than that!

Other than that, I have a K&N Drop in Filter that I check periodically and that thing looks brand spankin new. :)

ok, so what do i actually need to get done at 60k?

anything not done at 50k + oil change? What GM "Recommends" and what should be done are two different things. You can probably go 100k without any maintenance other than oil changes and be fine.

I read that dif fluid, tranny fluid and brakes don’t need to be done till 100k... $ isn’t the issue.. Just want to do whatever the truck actually needs...

btw, all I’ve ever done is change the oil and I’ve had the truck for 4 years now...

Any and all feedback is appreciated...

I'd say the brakes need to be done when they need to be done. You have a larger offroad style tire which is going to have a higher rotational mass, therefore the brakes will need it quicker than what the normal life expectancy is.

Not only the dealer but a local shop that a friend owns recommended the rear diff flushed at 50k.

Tranny fluid should be good for 100k, as is the coolant flush.

Chevy recommends all that at 50k if I remember correctly, but wether you should actually do it is a whole nother' story.

Sorry I can't give definitive answers, only theoretical ones.

You've had the same air filter for 82k miles???? Is it the stock filter I'm guessing? I replace mine every 6k and it's really dirty when I do too.

yeah its the stock air filter. I live in Cali but im always on dirt roads its my hobby. lol. ATVs all the wayy. I just checked it last week and all looked good.

Follow the manual. What I did at 60k was tranny (dealer flush), transfer case, front/rear diffs, oil and filter, air filter, brake fluid. You can change all those fluids yourself but I would recommend getting the tranny flushed at the dealer.

I am sure the tranny flush will be discussed here... IMO if you do the tranny yourself you are only changing only 1/3 of the fluids. Also it will not cleanout any deposits/particulates. Any blockage in the numerous tranny passages will eventually destroy it.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm think I'm going to do the tranny and rear end on mine when I hit 50K. I think doing my 02 at 200K was the first time it was ever done (thanks previous owner!) so if I do this one at 50K it'll even em both out! The rear end is easy and cheap. Like me.
