2009+ Chrome Side Molding

Does anyone know if the chrome strip on the 2009+ LTZ's is part of the painted molding or just another piece? The parts department says you have to buy the painted part that includes the chrome strip. From looking at one on the newer trucks it looks like its two separate pieces.

It is most likely attached to it. That's how the Denali pieces are so I imagine the Tahoe's are too.
