Thanks for that. Good eye. Engine swap fyi …

For those just getting into the 07-14 full size SUV game, the L96 (360/380tq) is the 6.0L iron block GM used in the Burb & Yuke 2500. Later it the years it was e85 but always made to run on regular fuel.

The LFA was the all aluminum 6.0L in the 08/09 Hybrid Tahoe, Yuke & Esky. The 6.0L LZ1 replaced that. It added e85 to the game until the hybrid ended in 2013. Both run on Reg fuel and are 332/367tq.

I've never been able to confirm the 2010-2012 hybrid 6.0 can run e85. no yellow fuel cap, no where in the manual does it say it. with the tech 2 I can't fine a ethanol percentage anywhere and I believe it has the smaller gas only injector size.

I believe the gas engine used like 22-24s and the e85 came with bigger, I wanna say 39# injectors for the extra amount of fuel needed at wot. but I'd have to look those numbers up again, my memory is crap.

shame too, I have e85 around the corner

The hybrid Tahoe, Esky & Yukon are odd ducks. Now days a V8, e85, $2.00 gal hybrid full size SUV would be flying off showroom floors. I see a few Platinum Escalade hybrid along the coast in the ultra rich homes here in Cali. You can tell they’re loved.

The Esky hybrid was the only Caddy of this Gen to get a true 4WD system vs AWD.

they really were odd ball things and definitely different in every level. the first year of the caddy even got a 3.42 gear but sitll did the same mph in electric mode. I bet that made for a better off the line take off.

I only know what my 11 yukon has. it's the 4wd transfer case, not the awd one. it seems as they moved up, they cared less about saving gas haha. the Tahoe has an aluminum hood and hatch with a fixed rear window to save weight. mine has a normal metal hood and hatch. the glass opens as well. also the Tahoe has a lower front end for aero, the yukon and caddy didn't.

the down fall really was the battery and lack of training the dealership techs to fix them correctly. they picked a prius based battery with a few more cells and cooling wasn't up to spec either. I honestly really like the thing, it just drives effortlessly. that might change if I get a major failure I gotta fix haha.

with today tech they could make such a good one and I agree it would sell well but that said, gm has never had a problem selling their big suv's. guy I work next door to has the new full size chevy truck with that big turbo 4cyl in it. he came from a f250 diesel and loves it. all the tq with almost 20mpg on 87. you put that engine in front of this tranny with today's lithium batteries and make it a plug in hybrid. it would make for a very nice mini van with a tow rating haha all while getting 30mpg.

I rented a GMC Sierra, Elevation trim with the 2.7L 4cyl, for a week in Tahoe last winter and it was fantastic. The low-end grunt on that thing was impressive. I would be happy to own one if they ever make them for the SUVs.
