Hi, i'm new and a mechanic from way back. I have an 09 Tahoe and the CEL is on and I can't get an inspection. I had it checked and told me it's an emissions issue. I was told to fill the gas tank, and drive it. I filled it, reset the computer, and get it warm up. No light. As soon as I drove it a half a block, the CEL is on. Can anyone help me? Thanks Tom

amazingly enough, believe it or not. We need to know the code, otherwise it's like sitting here guessing your hair color and weight without a photo.

Just know that if the tank is full it's not going to run the evap test. One of the primary conditions for a drive cycle is that the tank is between 1/8 and 7/8 full. There are numerous other conditions like a cold start, ambient temp being within about a dozen degrees of engine temp, and a host of others.

Post up that code (or codes) for us to see.
