At the time i bought my yukon I found some thing according to my experience it is a defect, if u set in the driver seat, with engine runing at idle speed, move the gear shifting leaver from R to D and D to R, u will hear clinging soung in the transmission, this sound due to a back lash in the gears of the transmission or the difrential, I tested other yuokon and tahoe and found same sound, the dealer said its normal but I dont think so.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Yes, that is normal. It is the transfer case slack. Think of it this way, when you are switching from R to D and back, the drive train is changing direction so when it does that it is going to move enough inside the transfer case for the gears to clunk a bit. Some of them do it worse than others with no apparent rhyme or reason for the differences.

There is more than likely nothing wrong with it.

But this not happened in all 4 wheel drive vehicles:) it depends on the design quality, this vehicle even during driving when it shit up or down it doese clinking, in my openion its not normal, this may happened when the vehicle used long time, the gears wear out and the clearance between teeth getting biger.

I had dicussion with the GM dealer regarding the cliking sound in the propeler shaft in my 2009 yukon, they said they discused this matter, with the factory and they said all 6 speed transmissions have this clinking sound, and the new design has the control system integrated in the gear box.
Sound like they know there is some thing unusual but they tring to convises the customers that is normal.
The question is why it is not normal in other models and in othe brands.

You noticed this at the time you bought it. If it bothers you so much why did you go ahead and purchase it? No matter what brand car you get there's always going to be something, be it minor or major, that you're not gonna like. And if this is the biggest complaint you have since you bought it, go get a ford and let us know how that goes. I'm not trying to be mean, just wondering why you bought something you couldn't stand.
