How are the 275's working out? I also have a 2009 z71 tahoe and am looking at doing the exact same setup, 2" daystar leveling kit with BFG all terrains.

Can you see a huge differnce in size between the 275's and 285's? Also, are you still having issues with rubbing now that you've gone down to the 275's?

Thanks.

Swacker, can't PM yet so I have to post.

How are the 275/65/18 BFG's working out for you? You still having problems with rubbing? Can you really tell a huge difference in size from the 285's once they're on the truck? If you could post a pic that would be great. Thanks.

FWIW, I got my 285/70-17 Duratracs on factory 17x7.5 Police Tahoe wheels mounted up on my '07. Absolutely no trimming and absolutely no rubbing thus far.

How do you like the duratracs? My plan was to go with the BFG's, but I really like the way those look. I'm not going to be doing much off roading, just going more agressive for looks. How do they handle on the highway and how noisy are they? Thanks for all of your input.

So far, so good! I've actually put a lot of miles on them in the week that I've had them mounted. I took a 360 mile round trip on the interstate doing 75-80 mph and I've been all over town with them. We also had some rain yesterday and they were great.

The only thing I can compare them to are the 265/65-18 Bridgestone Duelers that I previously had on there.

Noise: Maybe MINIMALLY louder. And maybe I'm just imagining that they're louder because I'm trying to listen for it. Either way, they are surprisingly very, very quiet for a tread that looks this gnarly!

Highway: They were very mannered. Like I said, noise was not an issue. Even with the tall 70 series sidewalls they were firm and felt good. I was dealing with some nasty 35mph crosswind the entire trip and was perfectly confident with the Duratracs...even when passing semi-trailers over bridges...haha.

Obviously, I cannot attest to their long term wear issues or anything like that. But they look freaking awesome, do not make much noise at all, and have performed well thus far.

BTW, the best price I could find for them was at Discount Tire Direct.

Got the daystar kit put on this morning and the 275/65/18 BFG AT's put on this afternoon. Looks great! Now that they're on I'm definitely glad that I went with the 275's, they look perfect with the 2" leveling kit. I really think that if you want to go with the 285's you'd need to go at least another 1/2 inch in the front and put some sort of spacer in the rear, 285's with the 2" leveling kit would most likely rub. Just my 2 cents for anyone looking to do this in the future, because I know trying to decide between the two sizes can be a pain.

Just fyi I tried the 285's when I had the 2 inch Daystar Kit and they rubbed. So going with the 275's was a smart choice. The 285's would of required trimming and they are a lot bigger tire than a 275, on paper it doesnt seem that way but looking at them in person you can definitly tell!

I know have a 4 inch Rancho Suspensionn lift (sorry no pics yet) and with 40 psi in the tires the front rub on the outside bumper trim piece. This is due to the fact that the knuckle kicks the tires out a few inches for the offset and these 18 inch wheels give the tire a bigger circumference as opposed to a 17 inch wheel. Rancho states that the kit supports and was tested with BFG 315/70/17's and trimming was necessary. Just keep in mind folks that there is a huge difference when using a 18inch wheel as opposed to a 17inch wheel.

Its either im going with 305's or 285's with my 4 inch

Do you have any pics yet? I'm in the same exact boat you were in, read that the 285's would rub so I went with the 275's. I wish I could go up to the 285 but the 2" daystar kit just won't allow for it.

When you get a chance I'd really like to see how it all turned out, and whether you went with the 285's or 305's. Thanks.
