2011 PPV..What part/function is this? noticing leak

When I was investigating wet floor in passenger side (happens while raining), I noticed minor very slow leak in the pictured aluminium pipe coming from heater core hose (yellow circled picture). i believe this may not be the cause of passenger side water leak, but have couple of questions on this leak

1. what this T junction aluminium pipe heads to.. rear end HVAC?
2. should I change the T connector to fix the leak?
3. any relation with passenger side carpet wetness?

Yes, that is the hose that goes to the rear heat exchanger.

The plastic T’s are known to fail. Could be related to water in your floor board.

You did not give the year, make or model so I just guessed at it.


I recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front.


If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

I was researching them this morning. My heart desires OEM style spring type ("constant tension"). But my wallet dictates the EFI screw-type. I'll probably end up grabbing a buttload of OEM ones from the salvage yard.
