2011 Suburban in Tennessee

Howdy!

Joined a few days ago and just kind of keeping an eye on information that may be pertinent to the improvements and ongoing maintenance for a 2011 4WD Suburban LTZ that's I've just finished bringing up to close to Z71 specs. It will be helping me chase The Mighty Trout here in SE Tennessee and pull a 17' Winnebago trailer all over the country. I'll post pix and build info in the gallery but wanted to say hi.

This isn't my first big Chevy, I drove a 1995 Tahoe for 250K miles all over the southeast as an architectural/corporate photographer years ago. Great truck. Wishing I still had it as I realized my 2000 ZR-2 S10 just wasn't up to the task of pulling 4000 pounds of trailer and stuff. That's what led to this Suburban. I think this one will be as good as the Tahoe; it seems well kept even if the mileage is high.

Looking forward to some good conversations.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.


If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

Welcome Bob, what gearing does your truck have? Does it have the 2-speed transfer case?

Hi Swathdiver! It's got 3:42 gears and the two-speed transfer case. Other than the air ride suspension I got rid of and the skid plates I'm looking for, it's a Z71 for intents and purposes. Wish I could get some 3:73s but Nitro Gear starts at 4:10 and goes up from there in their gear packages. They also have a really nice posi-locker if the G80 ever goes out. Not sure I need the full-monty air lockers or lunchboxes for this rig.

Try Yukon Gear. Shop I used to run here in Oregon did a lot of diff rebuilds. We used them and never ever had problems. They sell complete kits so you don't have to piece meal it unless you want to.
