2011 Yukon Denali 2/3 drop issue mounting 24” Vossens and tires rubbing

Hey guys,

I’m beyond ticked and looking for some feedback or suggestions. I have a 2011 Yukon Denali that I recently had a Belltech 2/3 drop package installed and purchased a set of Vossen HF6-1 24x10 wheels.

Seems like when it rains it pours over here..

I bought the Belltech 753 drop kit and wheels together from an online dealer and confirmed with them and Vossen prior to purchase that I would have no issues w/rubbing once installed.

Discount Tire finally got my set of 305/35/r24 tires in so I headed up there to get the new wheels installed.

They called me out to show me a wheel that had minor distortion and was off balance (I couldn’t see an issue and he said it was minor but I could drive with it if I chose/sending that wheel back to Vossen for exchange based on his comment)

The 305/35-24 tires I researched online and was told my Vossen hf6-1 24x10 and tire size combo would fit with my vehicle and 2/3 drop.

They called me out to the bay to show me it would be rubbing badly? I asked if it was a simple issue of removing/trimming the plastic wheel wheel material and he said it’s hitting the metal (believe he means frame)on inside of wheel well.

I’m kind of scratching my head here because the dealer I spoke with when I bought the kit and wheels said would not have an issue but now I am.

Besides the obvious of going with a 285 or 295 tire anyone by chance have this experience on their vehicle?

Unfortunately, online sellers can tell you anything to get the sale.

Hopefully, some folks on this Forum may be able to help out. My personal feeling is that you won't be able to make that combo work, based on the minimal clearances that I have with my 305/50x20 tires on stock 8.5x20 rims.

It would appear that did not make a difference.

24's on these SUV's and a drop....asking for the exact issues you are having. 24's are going to rub and I would advice to go back to stock...sorry but my .02 cents. My Denali has 22's and thats about the biggest you can get on these SUV...

That’s just false. The size of the wheel has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the tire will rub. You can have 26’s that have a smaller OD than a factory 22” tire

These trucks were designed for stock ride height. If you lift or lower, rubbing is just something you have to deal with. I have a 2” drop in the front and the 285/45/22 Michelin Defenders run quite a bit because of the squared shape of the tire but it is what it is. Modifications always come with caveats.

Why would you want a shorter than stock tire? That looks terrible, in my opinion. The wheel/tire overall diameter needs to fit the wheel well to look right.
