Hi guys!
Hey so I have a high pitched whine, sounds like it’s in the front of the vehicle. Starts at about 40mph and gets higher pitched the faster I go, still there at 80-90 mph but if I let off the gas and coast it goes away at any speed.
The sound Doesn’t change by manually shifting the transmission.

My apologies if this has been asked and answered. Any thoughts?
Thanks

If it is independent of engine RPM and dependent on vehicle speed, I would start looking at things like your front wheel bearings, CV shafts, front differential, if it is 4WD, u-joints on your drive shafts, etc.

Generally the noise- if it changes at a highway type speed goes away when the
gears are "unloaded" would indicate to me that the Ring and Pinion is shot
Since it's up front only, I'd expect that to be your front differential ring and
pinion gears

Does the Whine go away if ya leave woman home?
Check that you have some oil in diff/ tcase. Might even want to pull the front diff cover if its really loud.

I wonder could I disconnect the drive shaft to the front diff and see if the noise persists.

Nope it’s still there when I’m alone in the truck!
I’ll check fluids always a good start.

Might not hurt to check your belts and tensioners too. Has the front diff fluid been changed lately?

And, welcome to the forum from Virginia.
