@Just00Jake Unfortunately rockers can still move normally even if you are having a lifter issue and depending where you are at in the stroke it is normal for some rockers to have a little play when they are not under tension.
When I tore my motor down I was not able to find any indication that ANYTHING was wrong until I got the lifters and cam out. Until that point everything was tight and moved properly.
I think what happens is the lifter gets stuck and then is damaged. It becomes unstuck but now you are left with a flat spot on the lifter which causes it to jump while it rides on the cam and that might be the quiet tapping you are hearing now.
Are you getting a misfire on a specific cylinder?
