2014 driver's door trim panel swap with 2008?

I bought a new (to me) 2014 with a door trim panel handle (not the release handle, but the grab bar handle) that is completely trashed. I am replacing my 2008 truck, but wondered if the 2008 door trim panel will fit in the 14? gm says that the 14 panel part number is only good for 14, but i can't imagine they changed mounting locations and etc for the last year they were going to make the truck. i know the pockets at the bottom of the door are configured slightly different, but aside form that is there anything really different from these panels? the 08 seems to be built significantly stronger than the 14.

Yes. It will fit but you have to change out the plate for two 10mm bolts under the pull handle the 2010-2014 use for the for the J-Clips the 2007-2009 use or the panel won’t go on correctly. And change the switch trim to the 07-09 design.
