2015 Tahoe Brake Squeak? Edit: Wheel Bearing

Does it continue once depressed or is it only when you move the pedal?

It is only doing it while driving. As soon as I start to brake, it goes away.


Edit: this is only happening on the passenger side

Not sure why this would matter but, when you jack it up to take off the tire, jack it by the control arm not by the frame. This will make sure that there is weight on that part of the suspension not having it just hang there. Maybe it will make a difference???

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but they couldn't duplicate the problem with the tire off. That's why I suggested making sure that there was some weight on the suspension. Just for S and G's.

Actually, you could try swapping rotors, see if the problem moves.


Normally, I would not recommend that at all. But, since they were not re-surfaced or new and the pads themselves are fairly new, it couldn't hurt.

That’s interesting, how often do people change the rotors? Also l if that is the case then I will have to swap them out and see if it makes a difference.

You should re-surface or replace at every pad change. There is a certain spec of rotor thickness that you should replace instead of re-surface. I usually just replace each time. For the expense and time that the vehicle is down (usually only a day or so but...).

I had a grinding, pulsing feel and sound on the rear brakes and replaced the rotors (both new AC Delco for under $50 each shipped) and that solved the sound and feel. It didn't take too long to do and I really should have done it 15k miles ago when I changed the pads. From now on, I'm going to only replace pads and rotors at the same time...not worth the hassle.

Yeah and that’s what I am going to do as well. I just didn’t think of that because the rear is hardly ever used.
