2015 Tahoe Ppv Rear Door/child lock

After a ling wait i finally found the one. It wasn’t ragged out and didnt have all the unwanted holes drilled in it. I knew the rear doirs woukd need fixed. I did the research but my issue is much different. I had my husband pull right rear panel and cable was connected to handle. My child safety lock stays on .Tried my brothers driver switch. Ive called police fleet specialist, gm ppv , kerr industries. Everyone says cable to handle and don’t understand child safety locks.

my best guess is the child lock is programmed to stay on, they eliminated the mechanism on the door edge and made it electronic control on the 15+

Thats what we thought but i have spoken with the gm fleet police specialist, kerr industries tech, and they all say they dont program them this way . I bought the tahoe direct from the Alabama police dept and they said they did not take it to be programmed after receiving it. My local gm dealer is clueless. I guess i can leave the console out for a passage way for the back seater to come out the front it seems though it must be a programming issue and thats why my brothers driver switch didnt fix it. When the doors are locked my kids can pull the handle and the locks pop up so that should mean all components are there and working as it should right ?

The GM fleet tech said the driver switch was specific to vin unlike the rear switches we replaced to fix the window issue.

I bought the tahoe direct from the Alabama police dept and they said they did not take it to be programmed after receiving it. My local gm dealer is clueless. yes it will push the lock tab up manually if you pull the door handle, if you pull the handle a 2nd time the door should open normally if the child lock is not engaged, the child lock portion is electronic though, and yes the drivers door switch is programmed to the vehicle so swapping in another one might not do anything.
you need a dealer or shop with a gds2 scan tool to troubleshoot the problem, you might have to bite the bullet and maybe buy a used drivers door switch and have it programmed to your vehicle. It's kind of tricky because of the electronics a tech tool is what you really need to get to the root cause.

My issue was the rear door switch yellow and brown wire was disconnected after child lock was activated leaving them permanently activated.

My issue was the rear door switch yellow and brown wire was disconnected after child lock was activated leaving them permanently activated. We reconnected the wire and were able to turn the child lock off. Now the rear doors open with no problem.
