So I pay over $70000 plus tax and have to have my truck roof removed by some mechanic at my GMC dealer ,to fix a problem that GM should have never let the trucks be sold with. I don't trust the dealer to put the truck back together like the factory. I wish I leased my truck and not bought it.
{JasonDenali15 I could not private msg you back I do not have the proper number of posts, I hope your new truck is problem free}
GM purchased my vehicle back from me.
A couple of things I learned:
1. They did the roof service bulletin work and it did not solve the problem. They did notice the sheet metal was not attached, but did not cure the pressure.
2. Changed out shocks and road forced balanced tires and they claimed it did. A particular psi range appeared to help the buffeting.
3. I did not drive the truck after they tried the new settings. I cannot verify it actually worked. I tried to hunt the vehicle down to drive it, but it was off the lot.
4. GM sent shocks directly from the proving grounds to test on my truck (so I was told). I believe the issue has something to do with the shocks the balancing for some reason.
5. Please keep mind, I am just reporting what I was told. I am not a mechanic. I never had a chance to verify it worked. I am just hopeful you can use this information to prevent your truck from being torn apart for no reason. See if your dealership can contact some engineers and see if they are documenting what is going on in the field with the shocks.
That's all I have...I have emptied my brain on everything I learned. Keep me posted on how it goes out there.
