So I took the plunge and decided to change the stock bulbs to the Silverstars Ultra as far as I can tell I'm happy with the difference

Did you take any pictures facing the car with one new bulb installed and one old bulb in the other side? It's easier to see the difference between the two in that type of pic. Other than the color, the brightness looks pretty similar in both of the pics above.

Jose,
I've tried Silverstars twice, and each time the difference was simply insulting.
When dealing with Halogen bulbs, they only put out so many Watts & Lumens, and no matter what coatings they try to sell you as something "brighter", they always end up yellow before long because they are still Halogen based..

Sorry to be blunt, but do you want to stop BSing yourself?
Buy a quality set of 6000K HID, Preferably genuine Phillips.
Big difference there.
No difference with ANY Halogen replacement.

You will thank me later.

I know if I put HIDs its going to be 20x better, but the guys that install HIDs here locally said they have to leave the dust cap off and dont want that.. the other thing is the flickering part..

Dust cap off of what?
Flickering?
The only time they flicker is during ignition.
Again, if you buy a quality set of bulbs and ballasts like Phillips, there are no problems.
Buy Chinese stuff and then you open yourself up.
My wife's Tahoe was running Phillips for 5 years without a single problem. Same thing in my 11' Silverado and F-350. Never a problem.

Check out some of the other DIY HID threads on here. The dust cap can stay. Whoever you spoke to is just being lazy, or doesn't have the proper experience with aftermarket HID kits. You have to drill a 1" hole in the cap and then the lead wires for the HID bulbs run through the cap. The bulbs come with a rubber grommet that seals the hole so no dirt/dust/moisture can get through.

For what it's worth, you should really avoid the 6000K kits. The 4300k and 5000k kits are the best for light output. I agree, the 6000k is most aesthetically pleasing, since there's a nice blue tint, but the lumens rating of the 6000k kits is much lower than 4300k and 5000k. I put 5000k in all my vehicles. It's pure white. No yellow, and no blue.
