Hi everyone,

I'm in Ontario, Canada and considering buying a 2017 Tahoe SSV that was previously used by Emergency Services. It has 160k miles on it and is going up for auction. I'm on the fence about it and looking for some advice.

I need a reliable vehicle to get me around without breaking the bank. I like the idea of buying from the government because I'm hoping it received decent maintenance during its service. Plus, everything rusts here in Ontario, so I'm hesitant to spend too much on any vehicle.

I don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge, but I can handle basic maintenance like fluids and scanning for codes, the occasional YouTube mcgivering, etc.

What do you think? Is this a government owned SSV Tahoe a good option, or should I keep looking? Any advice is appreciated!

It all depends on how well it was maintained. Check it out well, figure out what it's worth to you ahead of time. You can get some really good deals at auction but budget to spend something on repairs.

Frankly, I could tell right away that my trucks Boarder Patrol fleet maintenance for San Diego must have been on break and probably drunk.
