Hello everyone I am new to this forum and I am in need of some help or some advice.
So I have a 2017 GMC Yukon SLT V8 5.2. And the Yukon has about 96,000 miles and I think I take good care of it pretty good. And just recently it has been making a little sound that I haven’t heard before and I am concerned.
So when I come to a complete stop and begin to accelerate from about 1 MPH to about 30 MPH I hear a winding noise and then it goes away after about 40 MPH . Sounds like it needs more airflow so I replace the air filter. But still the same sound. So I thought maybe check the transmission fluid and sure enough it was low so added about half a quart and was still marked low so I then added other half a quart it began to read a little bit higher. So I began to drive it and test drive it around and the sound was still there but not as bad if that makes sense.
So that is my issue hope someone has some advice or suggestions or direction for me to go.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

If you can record the sound and post it to YouTube and post the YouTube link here, than we will be able to hear what you are hearing and give you our thoughts.

In the meantime, @NickTransmissions is our resident transmissions expert, and he may have some suggestions, as well.

Do you hear the sounds when you're in Park or Neutral, engine running or just when you're moving?

fluid should not be

fluid shouldn't be low unless there is a leak, they hold around 12 qt's so 1 qt low likely wouldn't do any harm but might depend on how long it was low
when was the last time it was serviced?
I want to say it's been a while I am at fault for that.

it might be wise to investigate further if it is something bolt on before it craps the bed, you can take the belts off and see if the noise is gone and spin things by hand to see if you can hear anything. I was hearing a noise on mine couldn't quit put my finger on it, thought it might be the vacuum pump, kind of let it go for a bit turned out it was the water pump, popped the hood open and found the water pump pulley wobbling pretty good and managed to limp it to the dealer (it was under warranty at the time) and had it replaced.

If it's 4x4 drain the transfer case and measure the volume of what you took out. The tranny fluid could be leaking into the T/C.
